Episode 137 – Vertical Development with Bill Pullen and Dr. Aman Gohal
As leaders develop, we grow through stages of how we view the world. These stages (of what we call vertical development) represent a different continuum than the growth in skill building, education, and career advancement (horizontal growth) we associate with adult development.
Patrick recently participated in a certification training on the assessment tool used to measure our vertical development. The training, conducted by today’s guests, Bill Pullen and Dr. Aman Gohal of Global Leadership Associates, inspired Patrick to invite the instructors to the show, and here they are!
Bill is a leadership development expert who helps senior executives and organizations navigate complexity and change. He is a former Director for the Institute for Transformational Leadership and Program Director of the Leadership Coaching Program at Georgetown University; he brings extensive experience to executive development. His work as a coach, consultant, teacher, and facilitator focuses on helping senior leaders by developing their leadership capacity, expanding the complexity of their thinking, and aligning their mental models and behavior with organizational strategy and mission. His work includes coaching, teaching, organization development, and facilitation. He specializes in helping CEOs and other C-level executives through transitions in roles, organizations, and the changing business and global environment. Bill’s client organizations include Fortune 500 companies, tech-startups, government agencies, universities, foundations, non-profit organizations, and trade associations.
Aman is a senior coach and facilitator with Global Leadership Associates. Through GLA, she also coaches in the White House Leadership Development program and debriefs assessments. She is the founder of Water of Life Coaching Consulting, where she helps Fortune 500 executives expand leadership capacity, refine decision-making, and influence at scale. A Master Certified Coach (MCC), she is the former Director of Georgetown’s Coaching Program and develops programs for leaders and the coaches who support them. Aman holds a doctorate in Human Development.
